My name is Jon Smith. I'm 33 years old and love to thrift. Thrifting has been a staple in my life. I have learned a niche for picking out the items that other people like and love.
A bit of my history
In spring of 2005 my long time friend and I started a small thrift store in Lincoln Park, MI. Working at the store I
started an EBay account and begin to list anything and everything. My favorite item
listed was a lot of 50 G1 Transformers (the toys). The thrift store days
were cut short and closed within 5 months.On came 2006! Shopping at a
local thrift store I found some cool rock albums. Records were
one of the items sold back when I had my thrift store. I decide to buy
the records and list them on EBay. It was instant magic. All the albums
sold. I knew exactly then what I needed to do, buy records, lots of
records. From 2006 until 2011 I have sold well over 50,000 records. In
the beginning selling albums I had to hand cut cardboard boxes from
McDonald's to make the mailers to ship the albums. I even bought a table
saw just for cutting cardboard. After finding success on EBay with the
albums it was time for me to try something new. On came the birth of
selling used clothing. The first clothing item listed was a man's London
Fog trench coat. Guess what? It sold! Instantly I moved into a larger
apartment and turned 2 bedrooms into a warehouse of product. Late 2008 I moved into a beautiful loft called Izzy's Raw Art in Downtown Detroit. My business grew & grew. Not only did I fill my loft up but I have taken over the buildings basement as well. 2 and a half years went by quick at Izzy's. In the spring time of 2011 I moved again to the small town of Brooklyn. Home of the Michigan International Speedway. My current home is like my loft in the country. Its open and large. At this time I realized that with the rising
cost to sell and the constant rule changing on EBay I have to find other
outlets to expand.
PlaidGoat is born. 
Currently I
continue to work on PlaidGoat daily. Inventory will grow and site
content will become more appealing as the learning curve comes. I will use social media and word of mouth to gain more
attention.

I will have in stock a large amount of great name brand items with an array of unique items as well.

Currently I shop in the greater Detroit Metro area but from time to time will head to Chicago.
When I'm picking out items I look for 3 distinct things.
1. Items that are either completely ugly or unique in my opinion.
2. Name brand items such as Hollister, Limited, Fossil, Nike, Columbia, Coach, North Face, Enzo Angiolini....ect.
3. Items that I think are cool.... I love the vintage grunge stuff!
Of course that is the order in which way they sell as well.
